About Jitsvinger
JITSVINGER (Quintin Goliath) is a multiple award-winning performing artist from Cape Town and the originator of the term Afrikaaps. A recipient of the Western Cape DCAS Neville Alexander Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Promotion of Multilingualism, he has also won multiple Kyk-Net Fiesta Awards for the acclaimed theatre production Afrikaaps. Born on the Cape Flats, Jitsvinger is an established conceptual writer, composer, guitarist, poet, educator, and social commentator whose work centres on heritage, language, and identity.
He has released several albums independently, including Skeletsleutel, Jitsologie EP, Knapgat, and Jitsonova Vol. 1 (Compos Mentis), and has collaborated with leading classical and jazz musicians. His performances span major local and international stages across South Africa, Europe, Asia, and South America. His compositional work extends to theatre and film, with contributions to productions such as Four Corners and Tickets, and ongoing roles as a hip-hop consultant for film and television.

Deeply committed to education and cultural development, Jitsvinger has hosted the Heritage and Harmony cultural production for three consecutive years and facilitated certificated creative writing workshops at Kylemore High School. He has led workshops, guest lectures, and mentorship programmes in schools, universities, prisons, and community organisations, including extensive work with the Zero Drop Out Campaign and Students for a Better Future.
He is also a pioneer and co-steward of the cultural exchange programme between South Africa and Aotearoa New Zealand, called the South-to-South Corridor in association with Performance Arcade 2026, and the founder of an artist mentorship campaign focused on building sustainable business infrastructure for independent artists from rural South African and SADC communities. Through poetry, theatre, and music, Jitsvinger continues to champion vernacular expression as a vessel for cultural restoration and unity.
